Program Note

Make way for the Summoner! The Summoner’s Waltz places audiences in the musical times of old through contrasting sections of heavy brass and light, flourishing winds. The two central themes develop in the piece through additive voicing and instrumentation. These developments lead right into the piece’s high-energy, chorale-like climactic moment, after which the piece ends with a brief summary showing the sum of its parts. The Summoner’s Waltz provides moments for all members of the band to shine, showing the true power and excitement....of the Summoner!
